The SYC is a non-profit, volunteer-run yacht club situated just off the northern end of Sandakan Town on beautiful Sandakan Bay along Buli Sim-Sim Road, a club where none of its local members own a yacht and overseas memberships and visits assist in keeping the club financial.

Our goal is to provide an enjoyable atmosphere where we can gather for social events, promote water activities, and cultivate community relations. We are a very family oriented club, with youth sail training on most weekends.

There is a great deal of activities going around with a lot of sailing boats, cargo vessels, ferries, the Royal Malaysia Navy, the Sandakan Marine and other commercial vessels they all ply along the water ways.

News and Events

New Membership Drive

Good news for all of you! From now until end of October 2010, we are going on a membership drive.
Members' children, regardless of their age will be eligible for a 50% discount from our full enrance fee of RM5,000.00.

For new adult applicant, we are offering a 40% discount. Meaning during this promotion period the joining fee is reduced to RM3,000.00

New Caboose Operator

Kindly be informed that we have engaged a new kitchen operator who can supply fresh seafood and good service.

Cabboose Come any day for lunch and dinner and sample some of the chef's specialties! You will find it is the best place to entertain your guests or for casual lunch or dinner with your family.

Swimming Pool Bye-Law 21b

The amended bye-law 21b reads "The pool and spa facilities are only for Members and Member's guests". Member's guests must be signed in and registered with pool attendance before they are allowed to use the pool. Swimming

Note that there are charges for your guests:
Children below 12 years of age - RM5.00 per entrance; and guests 12 years of age and above - RM10.00 per entrance.

Affiliation with Manila Yacht Club

Manila Yacht Club (MYC) and SYC sealed their club affiliation agreement on 30th Jan 2010 at the clubhouse. MYC was represented by its commodore Ildefonso G. Tronqued Jr. while on behalf of SYC was commodore (2009-2010) Dr. Edmond Fernandez.

Appointment

Immediate Past Commodore (IPC) Dr. Edmond Fernandez has been appointed by the General Committee as Liaison Officer for our extension projects.

Two other members, namely Mr. Heng Wai Yuk and Mr. David Hiew have been appointed to the Boat Park Sub Committee by the Rear Commodore Mr. John Chin.
